Besalù
Besalú is a 20-minute drive away and there is free parking on the outskirts of town.
You enter picturesque, medieval Besalú via an arched bridge with a real watchtower and a kink in the middle. From the town, a beautiful walk leads you to the verdant front of the riera de Borró down below, from where you can see the bridge even better.
The town is a succession of winding streets with shops, restaurants and few lovely, atmospheric squares. The very old underground “Miqve” in the Jewish quarter is definitely worth a visit. Mikweh literally means ‘lively water’ and is an important cleansing ritual in Judaism. At the heart of Besalú, you will find the Micromundi museum where you will stare through a looking glass at pinpoints on which entire horse-drawn carriages rest.
