Embroidery is very mindful. The repetitive movements with needle and thread on soft fabric feel wonderful. Creating something with your hands brings peace to your mind. Most of the time, anyway—sometimes it’s a challenge ;-).
Embroidery Adventure
During these four days, you’ll create your own unique free-style embroidery. Especially for this workshop, I’ve researched Mexican-Spanish techniques and created designs. I’ll teach you Mexican techniques for colorful embroidery on a garment. These designs also work beautifully on a pillow, wall hanging, or table runner. Of course, you can also embroider and decorate a photo printed on fabric in a Spanish-Mexican style. I’ll bring embroidery designs featuring flowers—for flowers on clothing, flowers in a vase, flowers on a photo, flowers…
You embroider whatever you like in your favorite colors and style.
I’ll contact you in advance to discuss your preferences so I can make the necessary preparations.
What’s included?
My guidance beforehand, for example, to help you choose a photo for embroidery and flesh out your ideas. This way, we can start planning what your larger project will look like.
I’ll guide you through the embroidery process on-site—choosing the design, the stitches, the colors—all in consultation with you. You’ll receive an embroidery starter kit and a goodie bag that includes, among other things, an embroidery hoop and a photo printed on fabric. You’ll receive an email well before your arrival with information and questions so that I can take your personal preferences into account.
In addition, you can, of course, use all of my embroidery supplies; I’ll bring along examples and some inspiring books.
Four days and a total of three nights in unique accommodations at Can Portell, either in the house or in the garden. The rooms are usually double rooms with two separate beds; sometimes you’ll share the bathroom, which may be located outside your room.
The cost for this all-inclusive and exclusive embroidery retreat in 2026 is €775 per person.
