The eighth edition of the Girona 4-Day Walk is here, and once again we’ll be hosting 30 people in our masias here in lovely Sant Andreu del Terri. You’ll hike with a group of up to 300 participants through the breathtaking landscapes of the province of Girona. You’ll arrive on Tuesday, November 3, and take your return flight on Sunday, November 8. Over the course of four days, you’ll experience all the beauty of the province of Girona on foot. Each day’s walk will start and finish in Devesa Park, next to the historic center of Girona.
What can you expect? About 70% of the trails are unpaved; imagine fragrant forests and rolling hills. Being in good physical condition is important to fully enjoy the climbs and panoramic views. Choose the distance that suits you: the short route (approx. 18 km) or the long route (approx. 25 km) with an extra challenging loop.
This trip includes transportation from Barcelona Airport to Can Portell, provided you take the flights listed below (the bus schedule is based on these flight times) We’ll also take you every day from our house to the city of Girona, where the hikes begin. The price includes 5 nights’ accommodation (in a shared room) with breakfast, 5 dinners, all hiking information and admission fees, plus lunch on-site during the hikes, and insurance. A private room is available for an additional fee.
You’ll need to book your own travel to and from Girona. We recommend booking the following flights with Vueling (https://www.vueling.com/en):
- Outbound: Amsterdam – Barcelona, flight VY 8303, departure November 3 at 1:20 p.m., arrival at 3:35 p.m.
- Return: Barcelona – Amsterdam, flight VY 8302, departure November 8 at 1:25 p.m., arrival at 4:00 p.m.
If you take a different flight, train, or similar mode of transportation, that’s fine, but the bus schedules are based on the flights listed above.
Traveling by train from the Netherlands to Girona is also highly recommended. Starting in August, you can buy tickets at www.happyrail.com or at www.nsinternational.com. Take the Eurostar (Thalys) to Paris-Nord, transfer there to the metro or R line to Gare du Lyon, and then continue directly to Girona on the TGV.
