The “Writing” course begins on the day of arrival with a delicious lunch at 1:00 p.m. and ends on the day of departure after a morning evaluation.
The course is intended for people who already have a clear plan they want to continue working on in Spain. This could be a film, a series, a play, or a podcast. I cannot mentor people who are working on a book; that’s really a completely different genre. The group consists of nine people so that everyone can receive thorough guidance on their own project. The goal is for you to make progress on the idea that’s already partially written down when you arrive and that you’ve emailed to me in advance. We’ll work on dialogue, characters, and structure. Classes are held in a group setting from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This means we’ll read and discuss your project with the whole group to inspire you and help you move forward. After lunch, you’ll work on your own from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. From 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., we’ll read what was written that day and help each other move forward.
Dinner is at 7:00 p.m. Upon request, each participant can receive two hours of one-on-one coaching from me. If it helps us, we can ask Loes Luca’s acting troupe to perform scenes developed in the writers’ group for us.
Loes will be working with her group at the same time. It’s hard work for everyone, but you’ll find that this is a week where you can make huge strides and (re)discover a lot of joy in writing. See you in Spain.
